Message from the Chair
Welcome to the Department of Technology web site, where you can learn more about one of the largest and most dynamic departments on campus! We encourage you to join our more than 800 majors and engage in the learning process with some of the most outstanding faculty in the nation.
The Department of Technology offers coursework in Appropriate Technology, Building Science (Construction Management and Architectural Design & Technology), Graphic Arts and Imaging Technology, Interior Design, Industrial Design (Product Design and Furniture Design), Technical Photography, and two degrees leading to teacher certification: Technology Education and Trade and Industry. Our Graduate Programs offer Master of Arts degrees in Industrial Technology and Technology Education.
Department of Technology faculty and staff are dedicated to:
- Enhancing students' problem-solving abilities through laboratory and studio-based experiences that feature hands-on activities
- Teaching students to examine current and emerging technologies critically, to develop a better future
- Preparing students for careers and, where relevant, professional certification or licensure
- Helping students to become informed consumers and responsible citizens
- Encouraging students to establish professional and personal goals and ethics to guide practice
- Inspiring students to pursue lifelong learning
