Testimonials

The Nicaragua trip for me was an experience of a lifetime. I honestly cannot think of one thing that could have been done differently. We had such an amazing group of different personalities that somehow seemed work together very well. Being in a country with such different cultures and living styles than what we are accustomed to really shone a light for me. After going on this trip I switched my major to Appropriate Technology because I realized how important it is and will be to be knowledgeable in this field. I would recommend this trip to anyone who wants a great experience with awesome fellow students and wonderful leaders.

The Nicaragua study abroad program was an excellent opportunity to implement renewable energy technology in a place where there are no traditional power sources.  Installing a microhydro system on a working organic coffee plantation to provide electric power for their kitchen and community space was very rewarding.  As a graduate student, the hands-on project coupled with the cultural exchange and the warmth of the Nicaraguan people provided meaningful experiences that helped round out my graduate school experience.

My trip to Costa Rica was extremely inspirational and life changing. Words cannot describe the dramatic impact that the culture and people brought into my life. I couldn’t have asked for anything better and it is a memory that holds a special place in my heart.

The trip to Costa Rica for me was an experience I will never forget. The Trip allowed me to see different types of plants and animals that I normally would never see. The importance for me as a designer to see different forms of nature is key to be able to incorporate biomimicry into my designs. The trip also allowed me to see things I had only dreamt of seeing as a kid looking through national geographic magazine. With that said the trip to Costa Rica was a once in a lifetime opportunity and I hold it high as one of the best experiences of my life.
