The graduate degree programs within the Department of Technology are designed to provide advanced education, research opportunities, and professional development in selected technical areas. Our graduate programs build upon the recognized excellence of our undergraduate programs in Appropriate Technology, Building Science, Graphic Arts and Imaging Technology, and Technology Education.
Each graduate student designs a unique program of study that includes a common core of required course work and up to 18 hours of elective course work tailored to the individual's concentration area, background, and individual interests. Cross-disciplinary study and field-based internships are encouraged. The program of study is developed in conjunction with the student's graduate advisor during the first semester of enrollment. A committee of three graduate faculty members, selected by the student, provides guidance to the student throughout his or her program.
Graduate students are encouraged to participate in a variety of activities designed to expand their professional "network." These activities include a weekly graduate seminar, attendance at conferences and workshops, and leadership roles across campus and beyond. Graduate students have served as lead investigators in renewable energy research and outreach projects, as research assistants in a wide variety of funded projects, as project managers in service efforts such as Habitat for Humanity, and as leaders of educational initiatives in schools.
We invite you to become part of this dynamic and engaged community of learners!
