Notable Achievements
- Rick Mitts (Technology Education, ’07) had his article “Gender Preferences in Technology Student Association Competitions” published in the Spring 2008 issue of the Journal of Technology Education.
- Erica Porras (Appropriate Technology, ’09) led a student team that won first-round funding in the EPA P3 competition in May 2008, for their project “Closing the Carbon Loop: Growing Algae Using Sustainable Carbon Sources.” The team will compete for second-round funding in April 2009.
- Mark Riggan (GAIT, Thesis Option, ’09) was the May/June winner of the Layers magazine Back Page Design Contest. His winning entry can be viewed at: http://www.layersmagazine.com/designcontest-winners.html
- Joe Smith (Appropriate Technology, ’08) is working at the National Wind Technology Center, part of the National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL), in Boulder, Colorado.
- Joseph Montemurno (AT, 2004) is working for Steven Winter Associates, Inc. in Norwalk, CT. He and wife Marie and their son Orion welcomed a new addition to their family in May 2008, a son, Asher.
- Micah Shristi (Appropriate Technology, ’08) and his wife Charlotte are working as members of the Mennonite Central Committee’s United Mission to Nepal. Following orientation, they will be based in Itahari, a small town in the tropical lowlands near Nepal’s borders with India, Bangladesh, and Bhutan.
